About

The Cave Run Lake Chapter was organized in February 2016. Our area of responsibility starts at the Northern Terminus and ends at the Corner Ridge trailhead, covering the Trace in Rowan, Bath, and Menifee Counties.

Volunteer

Monthly Saturday Maintenance Days

The Cave Run Lake Chapter works on the Trace on the first Saturday of each month to clear and repair the trail. Volunteers are welcome, regardless of experience. Tools are provided. All volunteers are required to sign a release before working and attend the on-site safety briefing. All CRLC workdays are official US Forest Service approved projects, and volunteers sign on as official US Forest Service Volunteers.

Midweek Trail Maintenance

These are intermittent midweek trail work days where you can join our group of volunteers led by Lucy Pryor for work on targeted areas for trail clearing or tread work. Tools will be provided, but bring a pair of work gloves if you can.

We welcome casual volunteers and committed individuals who can become trail maintenance leaders once they have significant experience.

Other Opportunities

In addition to trail maintenance, we have many opportunities for you to get involved in all different aspects of the Chapter.

Are you a consummate host or event organizer? We already have several events yearly that could use your touch! And we would love to create more indoor and outdoor activities to show appreciation to our members and volunteers and to introduce new enthusiasts to our chapter.

Everything from photos of maintenance days and hikes, publicity and communication tasks, working to increase awareness among community leaders, grant-writing - if you have an hour or two to spare, we would love your help!

Organized Hikes

Each spring and fall we offer several day hikes and at least one overnight trip in our Chapter area. See below for current hikes.

For more info and to sign up, email crlc@sheltoweetrace.org.

Hiker Support/Shuttles

We provide a volunteer shuttle service for hikers starting or ending their hike anywhere within our territory, the first 70 miles from the Northern Terminus. Please email us at crlc@sheltoweetrace.org to get set up with a shuttle, re-supply support, or other ways we can help facilitate your trip.

Also, click the button below to view the full list of shuttle services, or to request a shuttle along the Sheltowee Trace.
